Playtime: Fabric vessel

v1_08fabric vessel, finished size 13 x 13 cms/10″ x 10″ approx.

Made by following Leilani Pierson’s instructions in her 5-day quilt challenge, published in Quilting Arts #43 (February/March 2010), this one took me one day to complete. Not exactly a masterpiece, but I can always use it as a thread catcher.

Step one: stenciled fabric and unstenciled back
Step two: both quilted together with some batting
Step three: random cutting
Step four: sew the pieces back together into a non-rectangular shape, embellish
Step five: fold, tuck, scrunch into a vessel shape (top)
